Interesting Sun Shots

While I was out on duty this morning, I had a lot of students come running up to me asking what the ring around the sun was.  When I looked, there was a huge ring around the sun - I've seen rings around the sun and the moon before but this was something else!  It was HUGE!!!!!!!!!

Have a look and see what you think.  What caused this??  Click on the links to the Google Docs below - some of the Room 14 students have been busy using their research skills.

You can see how big the ring was from this photo!

Our First Day of Taekwon-Do

A Warning...an Update...and the power of an Online Learning Community!

Hi everyone

Something has been added to our blog in some way - it's a link underneath MyChatPack.  DO NOT CLICK ON THIS!

I have contacted Blogger to find out how to remove it as it doesn't appear to have any html associated with it.  Hopefully they will deal with it straight away.

Just one of those things when working digitally.

UPDATE

Remember this afternoon, I posted a question to the online learning forum about this?  Well, I've had lots of answers and support and the offending link has been removed!  This is the power of teaching and learning in the digital age and learning in an online learning community.   When you're stuck or not sure about how to do something, help is only a quick post away in a learning forum!!

How can we use this power to help us in our daily learning - through an online learning community!  This is also what I started to talk to you about today.  More to come in the next few days....................

I can relax now, just like Gracie........

Hi Team!

Hi everyone!!

Two more sleeps and we're back at school ready for more fantastic teaching and learning challenges!!

I hope you've all had a good break and are ready to push your teaching and learning even further than you already have this year.

What do you really want to achieve this Term?  Look at how far you've already come.  Set your goals high.  We will be looking at your progress over the past 18 months and looking at where you need to head next and what we can do as a teaching and learning team to help each other achieve those goals.

I'd love to hear what you've been doing over the break so jump online and add your comments.

See you on Monday!

Mondrian Art

As part of our learning about fractions we are going to apply our knowledge to the art of Piet Mondrian.

Check out the links below and the video to see how it works.

Creative Commons Search

We are developing our awareness of what we can and cannot use and share on the Net.  There is a whole lot of learning around Copyright, etc.

The tool below - click on the link, and I'll also put it on the sidebar - is a really cool way to avoid getting into difficulty over Copyright.  (Its all part of being a Responsible learner - part of R2P2GC in action!)

The Room Nine Einsteins

Check out this news programme produced by a school in Dunedin.

They'd love some feedback on what they've created.  Remember to include constructive feedback.

Two Very Special Visitors!

Today we had two very special visitors and we hope they will come back and visit us as often as they can.
We can't believe how fast Mrs Meldau's gorgeous girl is growing!!
I think we should add some captions!
Mrs Meldau was our teacher for the first term of 2012 and we miss her, so it was fantastic to catch up with her and her gorgeous daughter.
